About Beauclaires Bed and Breakfast

A Note from the Innkeeper

I would like to personally welcome you to our beautiful Queen Ann style Victorian Bed and Breakfast in lovely Cape May, New Jersey. Built-in 1879 after the original house was destroyed by fire in 1878, it was maintained as a private summer home and many stories concerning those who lived and visited here abound. Many of Cape May's tours state that Wallace Warfield, later to become the Duchess of Windsor, summered here but this has not been substantiated. Victorian house plans, divided space so everyone in the household had some privacy in an age that was intensely communal. This can be seen in several of our public rooms which are just large enough for two or three...all places to escape from the pressures of too much close family living.

We are centrally located in the historic district, and within walking distance to many fine restaurants, shopping, horse-drawn carriage tours, theatre, musical events and live entertainment. We are only steps away from Cape May’s wonderful white sandy beaches.

Come celebrate with us during our four distinct seasons at the Beauclaires. If you’re planning a summer visit, join us for an afternoon glass of freshly brewed iced tea or lemonade served with freshly baked goods. Take a siesta on our outdoor porch feeling the ocean breezes on a lazy summer afternoon. Refresh yourself with a dip into the ocean. Enjoy a sunset schooner sailing on the Atlantic Ocean followed by a gourmet dinner in one of Cape May’s top-rated restaurants.

Fall and winter months, our home glows with a warm and cozy atmosphere. Take a walk on the beach, or a bicycle ride touring some of Cape May’s older homes. Observe our renowned bird watching stop over migration to South America, or shop for that special antique you’ve been looking for. We have a small library at the Inn where you can read your favorite novel followed by our late afternoon glass of sherry or wine and cheese. Sample a piece of our signature Victorian pound cake. After dinner, soak in your original claw foot tub, followed by complimentary chocolates before snuggling into your Victorian Queen Ann bed.

Spring brings a new beginning to our home. As we start to open our windows you can feel the warm breezes throughout the Inn. Relax in our sunroom enjoying the warm sun as you plan your events for the day. Cape May offers many springtime festivals. Jazz, Chamber Music, Food and Wine, and Captain Meys Tulip Festival.

We offer many different types of special package getaways throughout the year. Romantic Weekends, Spa, Music Festivals, Nature, Deep Sea Fishing, Christmas in Cape May, and various Holiday specials. Please contact us for any questions you may have. Our first priority is to make you feel comfortable and welcomed in our Inn. We look forward to talking with you and seeing you in the near future….

Thank you,
