Cape May Beaches
Cape May, New Jersey, offers a collection of well-maintained beaches known for clean sand, gentle surf, and a relaxed atmosphere. Popular spots include Higbee Beach, Sunset Beach, and Poverty Beach, each providing a slightly different experience, from quiet nature areas to classic oceanfront settings. Many visitors choose Cape May for its less crowded shoreline compared to other Jersey Shore destinations.
Beauclaire’s Bed & Breakfast is located within easy walking distance of the Cape May beach, allowing guests to leave their car parked and access the ocean on foot. This convenience is especially valuable during peak summer months when parking near the beach can be limited.
Beach access in Cape May requires a beach tag during the summer season, which Beauclaire’s provides for guests along with complimentary beach chairs. Visitors should note that public restrooms, lockers, and showers are not available directly on most beaches, so planning is recommended.
Guests are welcome to bring food, drinks, coolers, umbrellas, and beach tents for daytime use. Local vendors along Beach Avenue also offer refreshments. Alcohol is not permitted on Cape May beaches.
Lifeguards are on duty daily throughout the summer season, typically until 5:30 PM. After early September, lifeguard services are no longer active, and visitors should use caution when swimming.
